Is monitoring Amazon RDS instance possible with Oracle cartridge? -
Causa
Amazon Relational Database Service (Amazon RDS) is a web service that allows set up, operate, and scale a relational database in the cloud, and manages common database administration tasks.Because the instance is in the cloud and managed by Amazon, the agent Installer has difficulties (especially with required permissions) to setup monitoring for that instance.Amazon RDS Oracle only provides an Administrative user (a non-SYSDBA role). -
Risoluzione
Monitoring Oracle Instances on Amazon RDS became supported beginning with the 5.7.5.30 and higher releases of the Oracle cartridge as part of Enhancement Request ODB-11996.
Alert Log data could be collected from Oracle on Amazon RDS beginning with the 5.9.5.20 and higher releases of the Oracle cartridge as part of Enhancement Requests ORAFOG-883 and ORAFOG-869.
The Oracle agent is not able to provide OS data as Amazon RDS does not provide OS data.
Tablespace monitoring (free space on RDS) is currently also not available due to limitations to OS monitoring in an RDS environment.
