How to move InTrust to a different server (including SQL databases, repositories, custom reports, etc.)? Here are some steps that will help in moving InTrust, SQL, SQL Reporting Services, Quest Knowledge Portal, etc. to a new server.
These steps will assist in moving InTrust to a different server. However depending on the configuration of your environment the steps may vary slightly and should be tested in a lab environment where possible.
1. If InTrust and the SQL databases for InTrust (including InTrust_Cfg_DB) are on the same server and you need to move the databases and pointers, see the following solution for more information https://support.quest.com/intrust/kb/15300
2. Depending on the location of the repositories (i.e. if they are C:\... or similar) you should change them to use UNC paths as per https://support.quest.com/kb/17068. Also (if moving this data is part of the overall move) use NT backup (and restore) or a consolidation job to put the repository data in the new location and then adjust the 'Path to a folder ...' to reference the new location by UNC location, i.e. \\fileserver\d$\pathtorepository (or similar)
3. Install the same version of InTrust (for InTrust 10.x check 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Quest Software\InTrust\ADC\licensemanager.dll for exact version, or for InTrust 11.x check 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Dell\InTrust\ADC\licensemanager.dll ) on the new server making sure to point to the InTrusf_Cfg_DB location used in step 1, it will prompt for the organization password if done correctly. If desired you can upgrade the existing InTrust server to the most recent build before adding the new server to the org.
4. Depending on location of Quest/Dell Knowledge Portal (QKP) and/or SQL Reporting Services (SRS) you may need to adjust the settings in each reporting job to point to the new SRS location (i.e. if this changed) and/or change the pointers for the following within InTrust 10.x InTrust Manager | Quest InTrust Manager (local) | Properties | Parameters: Reporting_default_QRS, Reporting_default_report_share, Reporting_default_SRS, WEBMONITORBASEURL and WEBMONITORURL or for InTrust 11.x InTrust Manager | Dell InTrust Manager (local) | Properties | Parameters: Reporting_default_QRS, Reporting_default_report_share, Reporting_default_SRS, WEBMONITORBASEURL and WEBMONITORURL
5. If the SRS location is changing and you have custom reports you can export them from the old SRS server and import them on the new SRS server.
6. Once those steps are complete you will need to change the InTrust Server that the sites, import jobs, report jobs, etc. are pointing to, this will move the agents from the old InTrust server to the new InTrust server. If desired you can contact support and reference solution 50158 to get a script to help automate this step.
7. Before removing the old InTrust server please verify that everything is working and in place for a period time to confirm that nothing is missing. One way to do this is to power down the old server for a few weeks and confirm that no tasks, jobs, etc. fail due to the old server being offline.
As noted above it is best to test this in a lab before production as your steps could vary.
