Transforms Repository

Toad allows you to publish Transformation and Cleanse rules (transforms) to Intelligence Central to share with other users. Toad Data Point users with access to Intelligence Central can view and then download the rules to use locally in their own Transform and Cleanse documents.

You can use the Transforms window to publish rules to, and download rules from, Intelligence Central. This window also displays the rules you saved locally in the Transforms Repository.

Note: This feature is available in the Toad Data Point Professional edition only and requires access to a Toad Intelligence Central server.

What you can do from the Transforms window:

• My Transforms tab—Use this tab to view the rules saved in your local Transforms Repository. This includes rules you created and saved using the Transform and Cleanse tool, as well as rules you downloaded from Intelligence Central.

  Publish—You can publish rules to Intelligence Central using the My Transforms tab.

• Common Transforms tab—Use this tab to connect to Intelligence Central and view a list of published rules.

  Download—You can download rules from Intelligence Central using the Common Transforms tab

While the Object Explorer is used to view and access most Intelligence Central objects, transform and cleanse rules are published, downloaded, and managed through the Transforms window. This provides an easy-to-use interface for working with rules and interacting with the Transform and Cleanse tool. This streamlines the interaction between the Transform and Cleanse window and rule activities.

Transforms Window

To open the Transforms Repository window

• Use one of the following methods to open the full-screen Transforms Repository window.
  • Select Tools | Transform and Cleanse | Transforms Repository.
  • In the Transform and Cleanse tool, select the Steps tab. In the lower part of the Steps tab—the Transforms Repository pane—click in the Repository toolbar. See Transform and Cleanse Data.

Publish/Download Transform and Cleanse Rules (Transforms)

You can publish Transform and Cleanse rules that you saved to the Transforms Repository. See Transform and Cleanse Data for more information. You can also download rules published to Intelligence Central by other Toad users.

To publish transform and cleanse rules (transforms)

1. Use the My Transforms tab of the Transforms window to publish transforms. Do one of the following:
   • In the Transform and Cleanse tool, click or in the Transforms Repository toolbar.
   • Select Tools | Transform and Cleanse | Transforms Repository. Then select the My Transforms tab.
2. In the My Transforms tab, select the rules, sequences, and folders to publish and click Publish Transforms.
3. If the Connections dialog opens. Select an Intelligence Central connection.
4. In the Publish Transforms dialog, review the list of items to publish. If a rule is displayed in red, the name already exists in the folder or sequence in Intelligence Central.
   • To switch connections, click the connection name and select a different connection.
   • To rename a rule, sequence or folder, select the object and enter a new name.
   • To automatically rename all existing objects (displayed in red), click Rename and Publish.
   • To overwrite all existing objects (displayed in red), click Overwrite and Publish.
5. Click Publish to publish the items.
6. Click Back to Transform Window to return to the Transform and Cleanse window in which you were working previously.

To download transform and cleanse rules (transforms)

1. Use the Common Transforms tab of the Transforms window to download rules. Do one of the following:
   • In the Transform and Cleanse tool, click in the Transforms Repository toolbar.
   • Select Tools | Transform and Cleanse | Transforms Repository. Then select the Common Transforms tab.
2. If no Intelligence Central connection is associated with the window, the Connections dialog opens. Select a connection.
3. After a connection is established, the rules currently published to that Intelligence Central server are displayed in the Common Transforms tab.
   • To change the current connection, in the Common Transforms tab click the connection name and select a different connection.
   • To refresh the list of published rules from the server, click beside the connection name.
4. From the list, select the rules, sequences, and folders to download and click Download Transforms.
5. After the download process is finished, the new rules are listed in both the My Transforms tab and the Transforms Repository pane (Transform and Cleanse window).
6. Click Back to Transform Window to return to the Transform and Cleanse window in which you were working previously.

Compatibility and Intelligence Central Versions

• Publishing Transformation and Cleanse rules (transforms) is supported in Toad Intelligence Central 3.0 or later.
