Renaming a virtual machine during restore

In the Restore Rename dialog box, provide the following information:
Rename To: Select this check box, and type a new name for the virtual machine in the associated box. The name can contain a maximum of 80 characters. It cannot include any special characters (such as, / \ ? * : @ > < | " ? &). If you specify more than 80 characters or use any special character in the virtual machine name, the job reports an error and fails.
Click OK to close the dialog box.

Performing file-level restores from image‑level backups

When you select a saveset, the following details are displayed in the Saveset Information area: Job ID, Job Title, name of the NetVault Backup Server, name of the client from which the data was backed up, plug‑in used to create the saveset, saveset creation date and time, saveset retirement setting, whether Incremental Backup or not, whether Archive or not, and saveset size.

On the Create Selection Set page, open the applicable container nodes (that is, the vCenter, Datacenter, ESX Host Cluster, and ESX Server) to list the virtual machine images stored in the saveset.

Open the image from which you want to restore the files. Open the Volumes node, and then open the disk partitions to display the directory tree.

Click Edit Plugin Options, and in the Plug-in for VMware Restore Options dialog box, configure the following settings.
NOTE: After selecting the individual files and directories under the Volumes node, if you do not select this option, the job fails.

Click Save to save the settings, and then click Next.

In Job Name, specify a name for the job.

In the Target Client list, the client from which data was backed up is selected by default. Do not change this setting.

Click Submit to submit the job for scheduling.
You can monitor the job progress from the Job Status page and view the logs from the View Logs page. For more information about these functions, see the Dell NetVault Backup Administrator’s Guide.
