Sieb_Srvr_NoDBConnRetry rule

Purpose
The Sieb_Srvr_NoDBConnRetry rule determines when the Siebel Server attempts to recover from a database connection loss.

Interpreting the rule
Receiving a Sieb_Srvr_NoDBConnRetry:WARNING alert indicates that one of the enabled Siebel components assigned to the Siebel server has encountered an error during the last refresh interval because it lost connection to the database and attempted to recover. If this occurs, the Siebel administrator should examine the component log files to diagnose which Siebel task encountered the error and resolve any issues. If the task is unable to connect to the database, it is not able to perform its designated function.
The SiebelServer Agent can monitor each component task log for RecovDBConn errors enabling the Siebel administrator to also be alerted about the exact error that occurred. Use the Component Logs Message Trap List agent property to enable this functionality for each Siebel component.

Sieb_Srvr_NoDLRbkRetry rule

Purpose
The Sieb_Srvr_NoDLRbkRetry rule determines when the Siebel Server attempts to recover from a deadlock rollback.

The Sieb_Srvr_NoXhaustRetry:WARNING alert indicates that one of the enabled Siebel components assigned to the Siebel server exhausted its recovery attempts. The number of times the Siebel component attempts to recover is determined by the Number of Retries component parameter. The Siebel administrator should examine the component log files to diagnose which Siebel task encountered the error and resolve any issues.
The SiebelServer Agent can monitor each component task log for RecovTry and RecovErr errors enabling the Siebel administrator to also be alerted of the exact error that occurred. Use the Component Logs Message Trap List agent property to enable this functionality for each Siebel component.

Sieb_Srvr_Proc_CPUTime rule

Purpose
The Sieb_Srvr_Proc_CPUTime (process CPU time) rule determines when an individual process associated with the Siebel Server is consuming too many of the available CPU resources on the monitored host.

Interpreting the rule
Under normal conditions, an individual Siebel server operating system process should not consume large percentages of the host’s CPU resources. Therefore, a Sieb_Srvr_Proc_CPUTime alert indicates a potentially serious problem with one of the Siebel components.
If the Siebel component that is consuming a large amount of the CPU resources is a batch or background component, such as the Assignment Manager, the Siebel administrator could consider reassigning this Siebel component to a Siebel server with more available resources. You can accomplish this using the Siebel Server Manager.
If the Siebel component is a member of the Siebel Remote component group, the Siebel administrator should investigate whether Siebel Remote can be tuned on this Siebel server or if additional Siebel servers should be dedicated to the Siebel Remote component group.
