To set general explorer options
Select Tools | Options |Explorer | General.
Review the following for additional information:
Prompt to filter list after |
Enter the number of objects to retrieve in the Object Explorer before you are prompted to set a filter. This is useful when you have a large database and do not want to wait for all objects to be retrieved. Default: 1000 |
Subfolder location in list |
Select where you want to display any subfolders and system objects in the object list. Default: Bottom |
Double-click behavior |
Select whether to open a Viewer window that contains object details such as properties, columns, data, and a script or to open an Alter window for the object when double-clicking the object in the Object Explorer. Default: |
Default Filter |
Specify a default option to use when creating a new filter in the Object Explorer. Default: Last Selected |
Use Object Details to display current details |
Select this checkbox to display details for a selected object in the Object Details window. This is useful if you are using the Editor and want to quickly locate information in table columns. Default: Cleared |
Sort list alphabetically when in drop-down mode |
Select this checkbox to sort the object types and each object alphabetically when you select drop-down mode to display objects. Default: Selected |
Allow editing of the schema or database list |
Select this checkbox to edit the Choose Database drop-down field to help you quickly find an object from a long list. Default: Selected |
Display followed links in object details |
Select this checkbox to display object links selected in the Object Details pane of the Database Explorer. This is useful for navigating to objects that reference the selected object. Default: Cleared |
Automatically format generated SQL | Select this checkbox to apply current formatting options to SQL when you right-click an object and select Generate SQL | option or Send To | Editor as Script. |
Separate schema or database by type (Only for non treeview) |
Select this checkbox to remember the last schema or database selected for this object type. For example, if you select a table from the HR database, then select a view from the Inventory database, when you select tables again, Toad defaults back to the HR database. Note: This option does not apply to object lists formatted in the Tree or Flat Tree view. Default: Cleared |
Use fully qualified object names when dragging objects |
Select this checkbox to add the database/schema name when dragging an object into the Editor. If you want to fully qualify object or column names for the Query Builder, set Query Builder options. See Query Builder Options for more information. Default: Cleared |
Tips:
To navigate to the directory where option settings are stored, click the Application Data Directory link in the About dialog (Help | About).
To search for a partial or complete option name or value, use the Search field at the bottom of each Options page. See About Options for more information.
