Run Queue -
Description
The Run Queue on the Activity Summary page shows an average processes of 30 for 1 Min, 5 Min, and 15 Min. However, the CPU Queue Length on the Home page always shows 0.00. Further, when user runs vmstat on the Solaris server, they do not see anything in the run queue. How do those all relate? -
Résolution
The CPU Queue Length on the Home page comes from OS command "vmstat" - the specific output column used is "r" which according to the man page is "the number of processes waiting for run time". Spotlight on Unix averages the value over 30 seconds.
The Runqueue chart in the Activity Summary drilldown uses the OS Command "uptime" which displays the system load averages over 1, 5 and 15 minutes."
