A table fails to activate in Vertical Partitioning environment with error “Skipping duplicate entry for <owner.table_name>” as shown below:

The following are the config file entries for the problem table (which is being routed to two targets in Vertical Partitioned manner:

OWNER.TABLE_NAME (c1,c2) OWNER.TABLE_NAME (c1,c2) targsysB@o.targSID

OWNER.TABLE_NAME (c1,c2) OWNER.TABLE_NAME (c1,c2) targsysC@o.targSID

A vertically partitioned source table cannot be listed more than once in a configuration.

Use compound routing map for the table so that only one entry is used in the config file for both targets. To accomplish this:

1. Make a copy of the currently active config file
2. Edit the copy to either remove the existing entries for the problem table or comment them out by putting the pound sign (# sign) as the first character in the entry.
3. Replace it with the following entry in the copy of the config file:

OWNER.TABLE_NAME (c1,c2) OWNER.TABLE_NAME (c1,c2) targsysB@o.targSID + targsysC@o.targSID

4. Activate the copy

Therefore, replication of a vertically partitioned table to multiple target systems requires a compound routing map. To use a compound routing map, all of a source table’s target tables must have the same owners and names. Permissible: scott.emp (c1,c2) scott.sal (c1,c2) targsysB@o.targSID + targsysC@o.targSID Not permissible: scott.emp (c1,c2) scott.sal (c1,c2) targsysB@o.targSID scott.emp (c1,c2) scott.sales (c1,c2) targsysC@o.targSID
