Recovery Manager fails to backup one or more Domain Controllers and any one of the following conditions may occur:
1. The Session states 'Error' with no error code or description and the Agent hangs.
2. The Session states 'RPC Error' when collecting although there is no apparent problem with connectivity to the Domain Controller and the backup is running under a Domain Admin account.
3. Application errors appear in the Application Event Log and possibly on the screen.
A defect relating to a multi-threading problem was found in Recovery Manager for AD 7.1.1.406 that causes the Agent to hang.
WORKAROUND:
The attached patch resolves this issue. Download the patch and follow the below steps to implement it:
1. Close the Recovery Manager for AD console.
2. Locate the ERDAgent.exe file on the computer where Recovery Manager for AD is installed and rename it. The default location for this file is C:\Program Files\Quest Software\Recovery Manager for AD.
3. Extract the newly downloaded ERDAgent.exe to the same location where the original version resides.
4. Launch the Recovery Manager for AD product and attempt backup creation again, which should now be successful.
STATUS:
Issue resolved in attached patch file, which can be applied to Recovery Manager for AD 7.1.1. This patch will be implemented into the next release of Recovery Manager for AD. Please check SupportLink for the latest release available for download.
