Column names do not appear in ER Diagrams or SQL Query Builder after they have been dragged and dropped into the diagram window. Also the diagrams do not refresh / update when changes are made to them.
This issue has been found to occur in the following products:
Toad for Data Analysis (TDA)
Toad for SQL Server
Toad for DB2
This is a display issue related to the Hardware Acceleration setting on an individual PC.
To resolve this issue, go to:
Start | Settings | Control Panel | Display
Then select the 'Settings' tab and click the 'Advanced' button.
In the small window which then opens, select the 'Troubleshoot' tab, and move the Hardware acceleration slider to the left, and click apply for each new change, until the display issue is resolved.
The exact slider setting which fixes this may vary depending on the machine, however from testing, the setting 'Disable all DirectDraw and Direct 3D accelerations' (3rd from the left) fixes this issue.
