When trying to connect via native client connection, the following error is given:
"cannot create connection within the time specified"
RESOLUTION 1:
Verify that a connection can be made outside of Toad using the same client/data provider. Verify that the client used is supported by Toad. Please refer to the current Toad's release notes for specific system requirements and support.
I.e. Toad Data Point 3.6 does not support Teradata data provider 15 and may give you this error, but Toad Data Point 3.7 does support data provider 15 and the connection will work w/o error.
RESOLUTION 2:
Increase the Teradata timeout setting for connections. Teradata's default timeout is 20 seconds. Apply the following parameter to the Advanced connection settings to increase the setting. Go to the Advanced tab (in Toad's New Connection window for native connection to Teradata) and add enter in "Connection Timeout=120" (without quotes) to the "Parameter" field.
