How to Prevent Automatic AI Trial License Activation in Foglight (4381382)

By default, when a Foglight Administrator signs in and clicks the AI button, the system automatically activates an AI trial license. Some customers, due to strict security or compliance regulations, want to prevent this automatic activation.

Currently, there is no built-in option to block AI trial license activation. The AI feature is enabled by default when the AI cartridge is active.

To prevent automatic AI trial license activation:

Steps:

1. Disable or remove the Foglight-AI cartridge from the Foglight Management Server (FMS):
   • Navigate to Administration → Cartridges → Manage Cartridges.
   • Locate the Foglight-AI cartridge.
   • Click Disable or Uninstall.
2. Once the cartridge is disabled or removed:
   • The AI feature will not activate.
   • Administrators will see a “No License Found” state when clicking the AI button.
   • AI-related alarms and optimizer features will remain inactive.

Important Notes:

• This solution applies to Foglight version 8.1 and later, where AI is packaged as a separate cartridge.
• To re-enable AI, the cartridge must be reinstalled or re-enabled by Support.
• For cloud deployments, the same approach can be applied upon customer request to Support.
