Unable to add Exchange server from Address Book Manager (4292849)

You are unable to find your Exchange server when running the Add new Exchange Server wizard from the Address Book Manager, and the error message below is displayed:

Error: Failed to list servers. Probably the base LDAP path is not correct, or the service account does not have the necessary permissions on the Configuration container or the server type is incorrect.

The superuser account lacks read rights to Active Directory

1. Log in to the domain controller as a domain administrator. Click Start > All Programs > Administrative Tools > ADSI Edit.
2. In ADSI Edit, click Action > Connect to and the following dialog box will appear. Make sure it is configured as the screen shot below, then click OK.

   

3. Expand the top node until you see DC=DOMAINNAME,DC=TDL. Right-click on it and select Properties.

   

4. In the Properties dialog box, click the Security tab > Add button.

   

5. Enter the name of the superuser account, then click OK.

   

6. Make sure the user has the Read permission.

   

7. Click the Advanced button. In the Advanced Security Settings dialog box, click the Add button.

   

8. Search for the superuser account, then the following dialog box will appear. In the Objects tab, make sure List contents and Read all properties are set to Allow.

   

9. In the Properties tab, set Read all Properties to Allow. It should also enable all the other needed permissions automatically when this is selected.

   

10. Click OK to close the dialog boxes.
11. Log in to the Archive server as the superuser, then restart the MAMExhandler and MAMExManagerSv services. You may have to close and reopen Archive Manager after doing this.
12. Load Enterprise Manager, then click Tools > Address Book Manager > Server. Right-click on the information window and select Tasks > Add Server.

    

13. In the Add new Exchange Server wizard, select the type of Exchange, then click Next.

14. Select the Active Directory Configuration container the Exchange server should be in, then click Next. Note: Unless you have more then one domain within the forest, you should not need to change this setting.

    

15. Depending on the Exchange environment, place a check next to each Exchange server, then click Next. If you are using a database availability group or client access array, please stop at this point and follow our documents for configuring these.

    

16. The summary screen will display all the Exchange servers to be added. Click Finish to complete adding the Exchange server to Archive Manager.
