Found "java.lang.NullpointerExeception" error in the Windows Agent logs -
Description
When deploying agent on the Windows Agent host given an exception is found "java.lang.NullpointerExeception". It is failed to create an agent and collect data.
Following exception is thrown:
YYYY-MM-DD HH:MIN:SEC ECHO <HostAgents/5.6.5/WindowsAgent/WindowsAgent_on_HOST-NAME> ERROR [IncomingMessage-7051] com.quest.glue.core.agent.AgentInstance - Failed to start data collection
java.lang.NullPointerException
at com.quest.remoteos.SystemMonitorImpl.startDataCollection(SystemMonitorImpl.java:135) -
Cause
This ERROR means that null value is used in the host name that is intended to be monitored. Therefore, data collection is failing. -
Resolution
1. Go to FMS console | Dashboards | Administration | Agents | Agent Status | Modify the private properties for this Agent.
2. Provide the agent-host name in the Agent Properties.
3. Activate Windows System Agent.
