MQ agent show as inactive from the Agent Status dashboard and from the MQ agent logs it appears that the MQ agent has crashed. The errors from teh logs are one of th following:
1) YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM:SS.MMM ECHO <MQ/5.5.5/MQAgent/XXXXX-agent> ERROR [Thread-98] com.quest.monitoring.mq.RequestQueueHandler - RequestQueueHandler.Exception breaks agent:java.lang.IllegalStateException: Current state = RESET, new state = FLUSHED
2) YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM:SS.MMM ECHO <MQ/5.5.5.4/MQAgent/XXXXX-agent> ERROR [Thread-11] com.quest.monitoring.mq.RequestQueueHandler - RequestQueueHandler.Exception breaks agent:java.lang.NumberFormatException: For input string: ""
3) YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM:SS.MMM ECHO <MQ/5.5.5.4/MQAgent/XXXXX-agent> ERROR [Thread-5] com.quest.monitoring.mq.RequestQueueHandler - RequestQueueHandler.Exception breaks agent:java.lang.ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException: -1
There are number of product defects surrounding this errors:
MQ-317 - MQ agent breaks with random exception thrown while parsing startTime and startDate about unexpected spaces
MQ-315 - MQ Agent causes "conversion not supported" in MQ logs
MQ-301 - MQ 5.5.5 can run into performance problem which requires an upgrade to Fglam 5.5.4.6 and a rebuilt version of MQ cartridge
