Customer has Data Guard configured for an Oracle instance and is seeking additional information about how the Data Guard monitoring appears in the Foglight database homepages.
Q. The Data Guard metric (below) appears to be blank on the data guard node, but is showing something on one of the nodes. What information should be seen if this is working correctly?
A. The data guard information is displayed on the primary database only, so:
- On the primary instance(any of nodes, data guard apply rate chart should be displayed.
- On the standby instance, nothing should be displayed.
Q. Should there be a data guard node set up for every active RAC node?
A. Standby database configuration can be different from the primary database(for example, primary database - RAC, standby database - single instance).
Q. Should stealth collect be installed on each data guard node?
A. There is no need in Stealth Collect installed on the standby database.
Q. Will the Data Guard metric be “not configured” in the data guard node homepages?
A. On the standby database (if there is no additional/nested standby configured) - the message will be "not configured".
