Title
"Interrupt task is already scheduled for the thread" and SO_TIMEOUT errors in Oracle agent SQL PI -
Description
SQL PI cannot monitor Oracle instances at the version 11gR2 and higher releases. An error similar to the following appears in the Oracle or Oracle RAC agent log files which includes the words "Interrupt task is already scheduled for the thread" and SO_TIMEOUT.
Caused by: java.lang.IllegalStateException: Interrupt task is already scheduled for the thread Thread[RAC-HOSTNAME-INSTANCENAME-lowPriorityPool-3503-[DBO_Latches_Activity][YYYY/MM/DD HH:MM:SS],5,FglAM:RestoreAgent] and the type SO_TIMEOUT -
Cause
This is caused by an issue described a network timeout, and the collection query timeout interferes causing subsequent failues. This is reported in Oracle Support's Metalink website Doc ID 2794308.1 -
Resolution
WORKAROUND
Upgrade to the most recent ojdbc8.jar file from Oracle.
The ojdbc8.jar file that was included with Oracle 21.3 (released on July 1, 2021) is attached to this KB article.
Included in the zip file is a replacement ojdbc8.jar file from Oracle
- Stop the Foglight Agent Manager (or FMS if this is an All in One install)
- Remove and backup to a different folder the file beginning with the name ojdbc8 (for example ojdbc8-19.10.0.0.jar) located in this folder {fglam}\agents\DB_Oracle\{version-number}\lib
- Copy the new ojdbc8-21.3.0.0.jar file to the same folder ({fglam}\agents\DB_Oracle\{version-number}\lib)
- Restart the Foglight Agent Manager (or FMS if this is an All in One install)
- Confirm if the issue continues to happen or if it is resolved.
- Contact Support if this continues to be an issue.
STATUS
This issue was logged as defect FOG-2982. The Oracle cartridges have been updated with the newer driver beginning in the 6.1.0.10 and higher releases.
