The following error message is received when attempting to upgrade SharePoint Diagnostic Manager:
Error: 2343. Specified Path is Empty from InstallShield
Cause

In some rare situations, it may be that there are two versions of the product listed in the registry. In such a case, any attempt to upgrade will result in the error message above.
Resolution

To resolve this issue, uninstall the most recent version of the SharePoint Diagnostic Manager, then re-run the upgrade. This will clear the extraneous registry entries and allow the upgrade to complete as a new installation.

NOTE: Since uninstallation does not remove the repository database, you can reuse it and all collected data will be saved.
