Password encryption used by Content Matrix (4321972)

How does Content Matrix store and encrypt a password that was entered when creating SharePoint connections in the console? Can it be decrypted?

Content Matrix uses the Windows 256-bit cryptography encryption to encrypt passwords saved with the "Remember my password" option. The encrypted password is stored in the %AppData%\Metalogix\Content Matrix Console - SharePoint Edition\ActiveConnections.xml file. It cannot be decrypted because doing so will require access to Metalogix's code base.
