Archive Manager is not indexing PDF files. -
Description
Archive Manager is not indexing PDF files and you may see the following error in the FTI.wlog "Unable to load IFilter; code: 0x80004005" or possibly no error. PDF files are simply not being indexed and are not searchable within Archive Manager. -
Cause
In many environments the Sumatra PDF iFilter will work where other PDF iFilters fail. -
Resolution
Stop the Archive Manager Full Text Index Service.
Uninstall all other PDF iFilters from your server including Adobe versions.
Download the Sumatra PDF viewer as it comes with an iFilterhttp://www.sumatrapdfreader.org/download-free-pdf-viewer.html
This can be installed via command line with the following switch: SumatraPDF-3.0.exe /opt pdffilter
Or, double click on it to install it and then open a command prompt as administrator and change to the Sumatra installation directory. "C:\Program Files (x86)\SumatraPDF"Run the following command to register the ifilter.regsvr32 pdffilter.dll
Then mark all PDF files for reindexing by running the following in SQL Management Studio against the ArchiveManager database:
EXEC dbo.ReindexAttachmentsByExtension @Extension = 'pdf'
When the stored procedure is finished the pdf files are not yet indexed but they are marked for indexing,Depending on the amount of PDF's to index it could take a while (hours to a day) for the Full Text Index Service finish indexing the files.
Start the Archive Manager Full Text Index Service.
