Exporting an entire mailbox to a PST file from Metalogix Archive Manager Exchange Edition
A full mailbox needs to be exported from Metalogix Archive Manager
A request requires an external copy of an archived mailbox to be sent
In Enterprise Manager, open Advanced Search and click on the ellipsis (...) button.
Search for the mailbox to be exported from the list of archived mailboxes, select it and click the down arrow button to move the desired mailbox to the "Selected objects" field, then click OK.
Leave all search fields blank, then click Search Now.
NOTE: The default maximum number of items that can be returned in a search is 10,000. If the selected mailbox contains more than 10,000 items, you will need to click on the Settings tab and adjust the item limit to a higher number (typically, 100,000 or more) until you can retrieve a result including all items in the archived mailbox. As search results are RAM intensive, you may run into a hanging search on an extremely large result (depending on the specifications of your server). In these extreme cases, you will need to break your mailbox into smaller date ranges using the filters in the Advanced tab and export the results separately. Result limit should never be increased beyond 200,000 items as this typically results in errors due to limitations in the XML language export tasks use.
Once there is a complete result, right-click on any item in the result list and choose Export Data.
Name the export task and click Next. NOTE: The name is only used as a reference for the task and does not reflect the final PST file name.
Select Export to PST and click Next.
On the "Export Settings" dialog, choose Folder Hierarchy to maintain the folder structure of the exported mailbox within the PST files and start the export process immediately.
Review the export details, click Finish to start the export task and export file to the PST export folder, which has a default location of C:\Program Files (x86)\Metalogix\MAM4Exchange\Export.
NOTE: By default, PST files will be broken into 2GB files. This can be changed by altering the export task properties in Tools > Export Tasks within Enterprise Manager. We recommend PST files no larger than 20GB as large PST files can corrupt easily.
