When you configure the Skype for Business/Lync QoE data source, you specify the QoE database and provide the credential needed to access the database.
Note: QoE must be enabled and running on the Skype for Business/Lync server to retrieve data.
The account that is used to collect Skype for Business/Lync QoE data must have the following database role membership on the QoE SQL database:
• db_datareader
To set up an Skype for Business/Lync QoE database collection follow the below:
1. Click the gear icon on the home page side bar.
2. Click Data Collection.
3. Click + beside the name of the target environment.
4. Select the Skype for Business/Lync QoE Database check box.
5. Enable the data collection for this data source.
6. Select the type of data that you want to collect.
7. Specify the QoE SQL databases from which you want to gather data.
8. Enter a credential to be used to access the QoE SQL database. You can select one of the following:
• Use the Data Engine service credential
• Specify a Windows credential
• Specify a SQL credential
Advanced settings (not required for most deployments)
• If you want to change the minimum interval between the data collection runs, click Show
Advanced Settings in the Scheduling section.
After the above has been configured you will be able to run Skype for Business / Lync QoE Insights (Reports). Below is a list of the Insights that are currently offered, and a brief description of what details you can retrieve:
Skype for Business / Lync QoE - Devices
- What are the types of devices used?
- Which devices provided the best QoE?
- Which devices provided the worst QoE?
Skype for Business / Lync QoE - Network
- Which subnets or regions had the most poor calls?
- Which network types had the most poor calls?
Skype for Business / Lync QoE - Session Details
- What was the call quality for an individual session?
- What was the network type for a session?
Skype for Business / Lync QoE - Stream Details
- What was the call quality for an individual stream?
- What were the quality statistics for a stream?
Skype for Business / Lync QoE - Summary
- How many poor sessions were there?
- Which network types had the most poor calls?
- Which offices or regions had the most poor calls?
Note: If you have configured both the Skype for Business/Lync QoE Database and the Skype for Business/Lync CDR Database data sources to collect data, you can filter the Skype for Business/Lync details insights using the Overall Call Quality field to show the conferences, peer-to-peer sessions, or voice calls that had overall poor call quality.
