Toad may be corrupted. Please follow the steps below to reset your Toad to remove temp, cache, and corrupt files. This process can be un-done, if needed.
NOTE: If some of your folders / directories are hidden, open a Windows Explorer window | go to Tools Menu | Folder Options | View Tab | click “Show hidden files and folders” | click Apply | then click OK.
1) Fully Exit Toad
2) Go to:
C:\Users\<YOUR_USER>\AppData\Roaming\Quest Software\
-AND-
C:\Users\<YOUR_USER>\AppData\Roaming\Dell\
3) Rename the "Toad for Oracle" folder to "Toad for Oracle OLD” (do this on the two location paths above).
4) Start Toad, check if your Toad looks like it has been reset to factory defaults.
5) Re-test the issue.
NOTE: Try not to leave Toad running overnight or force close Toad as these can cause user files corruption or damage.
If you want to transfer back your Connections History, follow the steps below:
1) Fully Exit Toad (make sure you have checked the “Save Passwords” box in the login screen, if you prefer this).
2) Go to “Toad for Oracle OLD” folder you renamed earlier:
C:\Users\<YOUR_USER>\AppData\Roaming\Dell\Toad for Oracle OLD\12.8\User Files\
3) Copy both the CONNECTIONS.INI and the CONNECTIONPWDS.INI files. Make a BACKUP of these files, just in case of errors. NOTE: The saved connections passwords are not transferrable between computers or different Windows users.
4) Paste the files in the corresponding ‘newly generated’ “…\Toad for Oracle\12.8\User Files\” folder.
5) Start Toad and you should now see your Connections History in the log in screen.
