There is only one single Toad Data Point installer to install either the 64-bit version or the 32-bit version. If you are installing in a 64-bit operating system, the installer allows you to select which version to install.Beginning with release 4.1, Toad Data Point is now available in a 64-bit version of the application, as well as a 32-bit version. Make your selection, 32-bit or 64-bit, during installation in a 64-bit operating system.Note: If you have an ODBC connection defined in a previous release (32-bit), you must define a 64-bit ODBC DSN to use the connection in the 64-bit version of Toad Data Point. Or you can use the 32-bit version of Toad Data Point.-Benefits of 64-bit Toad Data Point. Use the 64-bit version of Toad Data Point to take advantage of performance benefits in a 64-bit environment. The 64-bit version of Toad provides users with improved speeds in many areas of the application (up to 33% faster). In addition, the 64-bit version provides significantly smaller memory usage.-In a 64-bit environment, run the combined installer. On the Choose Installer page, select Install 64-bit Toad Data Point.-Use 64-bit ODBC drivers. If you are using one or more ODBC drivers for connections in Toad Data Point, then you must have the 64-bit version of that driver installed to use 64-bit Toad Data Point. For example, ensure that you have the corresponding 64-bit ODBC driver installed if you use any of the following connections: Netezza, IBM iSeries, Ingres, Vertica, or PostgreSQL.-Use 64-bit IBM DB2 client. The bitness (architecture) of your DB2 client must match the bitness of Toad Data Point. To use a DB2 client with 64-bit Toad Data Point, you must have a 64-bit version of the DB2 client installed.-32-bit Oracle client. You can use a 32-bit Oracle client with the 64-bit version of Toad Data Point.-Side-by-side installation. Toad Data Point 4.1 (or later) supports side-by-side installation of versions with different bitness (architecture) as long as they are also different releases (e.g., 4.0 and 4.1) or different editions (e.g., Commercial and Beta).For example, you could install the following side-by-side:• A 32-bit 4.1 Commercial edition and a 64-bit 4.1 Beta edition• A 32-bit 4.0 Commercial edition and a 64-bit 4.1 Commercial edition
