Open the “.vmx” file. |

After modifying the “.vmx” file, start the VMware vCenter Converter Standalone Client Wizard to create the virtual machine. Follow the instructions to complete the virtual machine recovery. When the “Select source type” prompt appears, select “VMware Workstation or other VMware virtual machine.” Additionally, set the “Virtual machine file” option to the restored “.vmx” file. |
NOTE: In the scenario described in the article http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1019286, the “.vmx” file is not backed up, but the “.vmdk” files are available. |

In the Search for files in savesets dialog box, configure the following options: |

Search String: Type the search string. |
• |
Regular expression search: To use POSIX (Portable Operating System Interface for Unix) regular expressions in the Search String box, select this check box. |

Case sensitive: To perform a case-sensitive search, select this check box. |

Click Search. On the Search Results page, you can view the savesets that contain the specified files or data items. |

On the Create Restore Job — Choose Saveset page, select the saveset. |
