Enabling quiescing of virtual machines

Start the Backup Job Wizard, and click Create New next to the Selections list.

In the Backup Preferences dialog box, configure the following option:
Quiesce VM for snapshot: This check box is selected by default. To quiesce a virtual machine before creating a snapshot, leave this check box selected. The setting for an individual virtual machine level takes precedence over the server-level setting.

Click OK to close the dialog box.

Disabling quiescing of virtual machines

Start the Backup Job Wizard, and click Create New next to the Selections list.

In the Backup Preferences dialog box, configure the following option:
Quiesce VM for snapshot: To create a snapshot without quiescing a virtual machine, clear this check box. The setting for an individual virtual machine level takes precedence over the server-level setting.

Removing backup preferences for a virtual machine

Start the Backup Job Wizard, and click Create New next to the Selections list.

Select the virtual machine, and in the Actions list, click Remove Backup Preferences.

Enabling virtual machine locking

Open the vmware.cfg file in any text editor. You can find this file in <NetVault Backup home>\config on Windows and <NetVault Backup home>/config on Linux.

In the [Custom:GetMigrationLock] section, set the Value option to True:
