Cluster Summary view

This embedded view is part of the Exchange Cluster Environment Summary view, when an individual cluster is selected in the Object Tree view. This view either displays information and metrics for the database copies or the storage groups that make up the selected cluster.

This view appears when an Exchange 2010, 2013, or 2016 DAG cluster is selected in the Object Tree view on the Exchange Environment dashboard. It displays the following information and metrics about the mailbox database copies in the selected DAG cluster.

Name. The list in the left pane of this view displays the names of the mailbox database copies that make up the selected DAG cluster. Selecting a database from this list populates the right panes with the corresponding database information and metrics.

Active. The following details are displayed for the active database copy:

In addition, the following metrics are displayed for the active database copy:

Database (Attached) Average Latency. This graph charts the average time, in milliseconds, that it takes to read from and write to the database file. It provides a comparison of the following counters:

Database Reads (Attached) Avg Latency. Shows the average time it takes to read from the database file.
Database Writes (Attached) Avg Latency. Shows the average time it takes to write to the database file.

I/O Log Writes Average Latency. This graph charts the average time it takes to write a log buffer to the active log file.

Passive. The following details are displayed for the passive database copy:

In addition, the following metrics are displayed for the selected passive database copy:

Database (Recovery) Average Latency. This graph charts the average time, in milliseconds, that it takes to read from and write to the database file. It provides a comparison of the following counters:

Database Reads (Recovery) Average Latency. Indicates the average time, in milliseconds, to read from the database file.
Database Writes (Recovery) Average Latency. Indicates the average time, in milliseconds, to write to the database file.

Queue Lengths. This graph charts the number of transaction log files in the copy queue and replay queue. It provides a comparison of the following counters:

Copy Queue Length. Shows the number of transaction log files waiting to be copied tot he passive copy log file folder.
Replay Queue Length. Shows the number of transaction log files waiting to be replayed into the passive copy.

This view appears when an Exchange 2007 CCR cluster is selected in the Object Tree view on the Exchange Environment dashboard. It displays the following information and metrics about the active and passive storage group in the selected cluster.

Name. The list in the left pane of this view displays the names of the storage groups that make up the selected CCR cluster. Selecting a storage group from this list populates the right panes with the corresponding information metrics.

Active Storage Group. The following details are displayed for the active storage group in the selected cluster:

In addition, the following metrics are displayed for the active storage group:

I/O Database Average Latency. This graph charts the average time, in milliseconds, that it takes to read from and write to the database file. It provides a comparison of the following counters:

I/O Database Reads Average Latency. Shows the average time to read from the database file.
I/O Database Writes Average Latency. Shows the average time to write to the database file.

I/O Log Writes Average Latency. This graph charts the average time it takes to write a log buffer to the active log file.

Passive Storage Group. The following details are displayed for the passive storage group in the selected cluster:

In addition, the following metrics are displayed for the passive storage group:

Copy Queue Length. This graph charts the number of transaction log files waiting to be copied to the passive copy log file folder.

Replay Queue Length. This graph charts the number of transaction log files waiting to be replayed into the passive copy.

This view appears when an Exchange 2007 SCC cluster is selected in the Object Tree view on the Exchange Environment dashboard. It displays the following information and metrics about the active and passive storage group in the selected cluster.

I/O Log Writes Average Latency. This graph charts the average time it takes to write a log buffer to the active log file.

Log Threads Waiting. This graph charts the number of threads waiting to write their data to the log to complete a database update. It provides a comparison against the computed average for the selected time interval.

Log Record Stalls/sec. This graph charts the number of log records that cannot be added to the log buffer because the log buffers are full. It provides a comparison against the computed average for the selected time interval.

Clusters Listing view

This embedded view is part of the Exchange Clusters Explorer Summary (All Clusters) view which appears when you select the Clusters object container in the Exchange Infrastructure view of the Exchange Explorer dashboard.

Displays information about the Exchange clusters in your environment.

Cluster State. Indicates the highest alarm triggered for each cluster.

Cluster Name. Displays the name of each Exchange cluster.

Type. Displays the cluster type.

Exchange Version. Displays the version of Exchange installed on each server.

Cluster IP. Displays the cluster IP address.

Active State. Indicates the state of the active nodes or databases in the cluster.

Passive State. Indicates the state of the passive nodes or databases in the cluster.

To view metrics and information regarding an individual Exchange cluster, click the cluster name.

CPU view

This embedded view is part of the Resource Utilization Details view, which appears when you select the Resource Utilization Details title or Details link in the upper right corner of the Resource Utilization view for an individual Exchange Server on the Exchange Explorer dashboard.

Table 44. CPU view

This view displays CPU utilization metrics for the selected Exchange server. The counters and indicators in this view change color based on overall consumption or deviation from normal levels.

System\Processor Queue Length. This button displays the number of threads each processor is currently servicing. This number should not be greater than five per processor.

Processor Queue Length can be used to identify when processor contention or high CPU utilization is caused by the processor capacity being insufficient to handle the assigned workload.

Percent Processor Time. This graph charts the following metrics over the specified time interval:

% User Time. Shows the percentage of time that is spent in user mode. User mode is a restricted processing mode designed for applications, environment subsystems, and integral subsystems.
% Privileged Time. Shows the percentage of time that is spent in privileged mode. Privilege mode is a processing mode designed for operating system components and hardware-manipulating drivers. It allows direct access to hardware and memory.
% Processor Time. Shows the percentage of time that the processor is executing application or operation system processes.

Clicking a graph in this view displays a metrics popup that describes the counters, provides more detailed data points, and lists current alarms for the selected metric.

Disk view

This embedded view is part of the Resource Utilization Details view, which appears when you select the Resource Utilization Details title or Details link in the upper right corner of the Resource Utilization view for an individual Exchange Server on the Exchange Explorer dashboard.

Table 45. Disk view

This view displays disk utilization metrics for the selected Exchange server.

Avg. Disk Read. This counter shows the average time it takes to read data from the logical disk.

Avg. Disk Write. This counter shows the average time it takes to write data to the logical disk.

Logical Disk Read and Write Time. This graph charts the following metrics over the specified time interval:

Avg. Read Time. Shows the average time, in seconds, it takes to read data from the disk.
Avg. Write Time. Shows the average time, in seconds, it takes to write data to the disk.

Avg. Disk Read. This counter shows the average time it takes to read data from the physical disk.

Avg. Disk Write. This counter shows the average time it takes to write data from the physical disk.

Physical Disk Read and Write Time. This graph charts the following metrics over the specified time interval:

Avg. Read Time. Shows the average time, in seconds, it takes to read data from the disk.
Avg. Write Time. Shows the average time, in seconds, it takes to write data to the disk.

Clicking a graph in this view displays a metrics popup that describes the counters, provides more detailed data points, and lists current alarms for the selected metric.
