The plug-in lets you restore a VM to a different name and location. The renaming of a VM can be useful if you do not want to overwrite the existing version. You can relocate a VM to a new cluster and storage domain, provided that the storage domain has a Windows backup proxy with NetVault client and Plug‑in for Red Hat Virtualization running on it.

Common RHV Manager: The RHV Manager (RHV-M) should be common between the new and old cluster and storage domain. |
• |
Compatible RHV host versions: The RHV host version should be the same between the new and old cluster and storage domain. |
• |
NetVault Plug‑in for Red Hat Virtualization is installed: Ensure that the same version of NetVault software and NetVault Plug‑in for Red Hat Virtualization are installed and configured on the new restore target. |
• |
NetVault Client is added to the NetVault Server: Add the target machine to the NetVault Server using the Manage Clients page of the NetVault Web UI. |

In the Navigation pane, click Create Restore Job. |

Click Restore. |

On the Create Selection Set page, expand the selection tree, click the VM that you want to rename and relocate, and select Rename from the context menu. |

In the Rename/Relocate dialog box, complete either or both fields: |

Rename: Enter the new name. The new name should have only alphanumeric and “.”, “-”, and “_” characters in accordance with RHV restrictions. |

Relocate: Enter the new cluster name and storage domain name as a key-value pair in the following format: |

Configure the applicable options in the Plug‑in for Red Hat Virtualization Restore Options dialog box. |

Recover entire VM: To restore a VM or one or more virtual disks to the same cluster, select this option. |

Recover disks only: To restore one or more virtual disks to the same cluster, select this option. |
• |
Delete original VM: If you selected Recover entire VM and you want to delete the original VM, select this option. |
• |
Power On VM: If you selected Recover entire VM and you want to enable power to the VM after the restore is successfully completed, select this option. |

In Job Name, specify a name for the job. |

In the Target Client list, to relocate the VM to an alternate RHV server, select the alternate RHV server where the NetVault Plug‑in for Red Hat Virtualization is running. |
