In a federated environment, the alarm template report displays all templates from all Diagnostic Servers. However, each Diagnostic Server’s wrapper file (located at: C:\Program Files\Quest Software\Diagnostic Server\Agent\conf\TEMPLATES_WRAPPER) only tracks connections monitors by that specific Diagnostic Server only. As a result, the UI can show all alarm templates, but the associated connections are limited to those from the currently configured Diagnostic Server (DS).
Product Defect - Bug: SEMB-2774
WORKAROUND:
When in a Federation environment, you can switch the Diagnostic Server (DS) using the “Select Diagnostic Server” option in the Spotlight client and relaunch the Spotlight client. This allows you to view all alarm templates and their associated connections from the selected DS.
However, connections from the previously selected DS will no longer be visible. In short, users can view all templates across federated Diagnostic Servers, but associated connections are limited to one Diagnostic Server at a time.
STATUS:
Waiting for fix in a future release of Spotlight on SQL Server Enterprise.
