When trying to suppress alarms for 'SQL Agent - Jobs Failed', the alarm isn't triggered when the job category is one of REPL-Distribution REPL-LogReader REPL-Merge REPL-Snapshot or REPL-QueueReader
These generate alerts via the “Replication - Distribution Agent Failure”, “Replication - Log Reader Agent Failure”, “Replication - Merge Agent Failure”, “Replication - Queue Reader Agent Failure” or “Replication - Snapshot Agent Failure”.
Cause
NA
Resolution
Please try the following steps:
Go to Configure | Alarm Actions | New
Select the "The alarm is...." | On the Rule Description below click on "Alarms" | Select SQL Server | Under that select "The alarm you want to edit" | Click OK
Select the "Details Contain....." | On the Rule Description below click on "Following Phases" | Add phrases | Click OK
On the Right Hand side select "Suppress the alarm"
Add the desired parameters you want to suppress for this alert. For Example REPL-Distribution, REPL-LogReader, REPL- Merge, REPL-Snapshot or REPL-QueueReader etc.
Unfortunately we do not have the exact settings in alarm actions to suppress the alerts, but you can add phrases for which Spotlight will suppress the alarms.
