This is a well know SQL Server bug https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2511963.
This bug does not always occur on all instances of SQL Server that are the same version. So, it does not affect all customers who have the buggy version of SQL Server.It would appear to manifest itself only under some circumstances.In some cases applying SQL Server 2008 R2 install Service Pack 2 CUMM 12 fixed the problem. SP3 does not address this issue.It is fixed in SQL 2012.The work-around is to not use the extended events functionality. It can be turned off under Configure | Diagnostic Server option on Home page and select 'Configure the use of Extended Events' option to disable usage of extended events (uncheck the box).
