How to set up Report Service subscription to deliver reports by email automatically, to schedule reports ?
A Reporting Services subscription is a configuration that delivers a report at a specific time or in response to an event, and in a file format that you specify. For example, every Wednesday, send an email contains SQLAgentJobReport to IT manager . Subscriptions can be used to schedule and automate the delivery of a report and with a specific set of report parameter values.
The following instructions are to show how to set up a subscription in SQL Server 2014 Report Service to send a report by email:
1. Make sure you have permissions to manage the Report Service, it's better to use the user that is the system administrator role.
2. Open the tool Reporting Services Configuration Manager and connect to a report server instance
3. Go to E-mail setting and fill in the sender address and SMTP Server
4. Go to Report Manager URL and click on the url, that opens the Report Service home
5. Open the Site Setting on the top of the page and select Schedules
6. Add a new schedule and then click on OK
7. Go back to home page and open the folder contains the reports
8. Hover over a report you want to subscript, and click on the drop-down arrow
9. In the drop-down menu click on Subscribe, this opens the New Subscription page for the report
10. Fill in the box To and other boxes if you want to
11. For the Run the subscription setting, you can choose the option On a shared schedule and select the one created on the step 5 or you can choose the first option and create a new schedule
12. I advise you to use default setting for start data and end date, it will always general a report contains the latest 7 days data, if you really want to modify the time range, you should modify the rdl file
