Description
VMware Restore fails with "Failed to retrieve inventory details of target server".
This occurs even though the server can be browsed through the VMware Plugin and backups form the same target can complete.

Cause
VMware affinity/anti-affinity rules prevented the VM from using the hosts/datastore that the customer intended. -
Resolution
You need to update the VMware affinity/anti-affinity to allow the restore to be done on the hosts/datastore.
OR
Use a different hosts/datastore combination.

Additional Information
The "Failed to retrieve inventory details of target server". error can relate to different steps and is not limited to retrieving the inventory details of target server. Other cases with the same error have been resolved by having the customer filling all the fields from the Restore to Alt vCenter tab.
