Below are some common questions and answers regarding the usage of Sharepoint Processing Wizard in QMM.
Q: How does the Sharepoint Processing Wizard work? Does it add permissions, like RUM does? Or does it replace them, like SQL PW does?
A: When using Sharepoint Processing Wizard permissions are replaced. All entries in wizard explain that permissions will be re-assigned. Not added, not modified, they will be reassigned from source to target user, as end-result only target user will have access.
Q: Will the Sharepoint Processing Wizard update permissions for groups?
A: No, this is not possible, current MS API doesnt allow this. QMM 8.x Release Notes confirm that permissions for groups cannot be updated.
AS OF 8.7 Of Migration Manager, support for processing SHAREPOINT groups is supported, BUT NOT AD GROUPS
Processing of Sharepoint 2007 groups with the following updates installed:
The SharePoint Administrator Group Account in Microsoft SharePoint 2003 is not processed. ST47968
Q: Since permissions are being replaced it requires to execute the Sharepoint Processing Wizard multiple times with different objects?
How can this be accomplished?
A: One of possible ways is to create a different INI files and populate those files with specific users.
For more information please see Solution SOL42573 Is it possible to test the Sharepoint Processing Wizard with a small number of migrated users rather than all users?
Q: What happens if I select Revert changes and then cancel the processing?
A: If you click Cancel while reverting back the changes, further re-permissioning will be stopped. Objects that are already processed by that moment will have source permissions. Objects that are not yet processed will keep target permissions. If you want to restore the SharePoint state, run the wizard with the Reassign source accounts permissions to target users option.
Q: Re-processing fails and log reports: Processing failed with error: Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID { string of digits } failed due to the following error: 80040154
A: Incorrect version ofSharepoint Processing Wizard is being used. There are 2 versions, for 32 bit and 64 bit OS. QMM 8.4 includes both. For older QMM versions please see SOL45279 to download the 64 bit version of Sharepoint Processing Wizard
