Migrating NetVault Server from Unix/Mac OSX running 9.2 version to Linux/Windows NetVault 10.x and above.
Starting with NetVault Backup v10, only Windows and Linux operating systems are supported on the NVBU server.

Before upgrading to NetVault 10 Server, customers running Unix and Mac OSX and NetVault 10 server unsupported Linux OS operating systems on their NVBU 8.x and 9.x servers must choose either Windows or Linux to run their NVBU server platform before migrating to NetVault 10.
For further guidance and best practices for Unix/Mac OSX migration to Linux please contact NetVault Technical Support for consultation.
One option that can be used if your Unix or Mac OSX Server is needed to be maintained as a media server is to consider the NetVault SmartClient option. NetVault Backup’s SmartClient architecture allows NetVault Client platforms to function as NetVault “media” servers. Therefore customers utilizing Unix or Mac OSX NVBU Servers as their media server can transfer that ability to a Unix / Mac OS client using NetVault SmartClient architecture.
Please consult NetVault documentation for more information regarding SmartClient configuration.
