SQL Server Agents do not display OS Metrics due to missing WinRM GPO configuration -
Description
- The OS metrics are not showing for one or more SQL Server Agents.
- Neither a Windows or an Enterprise Appliance Firewall are blocking connectivity.
- The monitored host is noted(via Netstat) as having a known WinRM port (e.g.5985) listening.
- When reviewing the WinRM connection attempt from a Floglight Agent via a netstat or packet capture, the TCP state is "SYN_SENT".
- When checking the Listener status via "winrm enumerate winrm/config/listener", the "ListeningOn =" field is either blank ior displays "null"

Cause
A local or domain Windows GPO WinRM Server listener was setup without a IP Address assigned to listen on. -
Resolution
Add “ListeningOn” addresses to the Windows GPO. A blank or NULL value will not allow a client connection.
To configure with Group Policy:
- Type gpedit.msc at a command prompt. The Group Policy Object Editor window opens.
- Find the Windows Remote Management and Windows Remote Shell Group Policy Objects (GPO) under Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components.
- Review policies under WinRM Service
- On the Extended tab, select a setting to see a description. Double click a setting to edit it. For example: "Allow remote server management through WinRM." or "Allow automatic configuration of listeners."
Note:
If you think the hosts IP Address (v4 or v6) will change, you can use an asterisk “*” as a catch all.
Once configured you may need to restart the WinRM service and/or refresh the GPO.

Confirm connectivity has been restored with command:
winrm enumerate winrm/config/listenerand/orwinrs -r:http://:5985 "ver"
