How to specify Oracle RAC credentials (4295687)

What is the oracle User name required when configuring RAC agents?

Is the same Oracle user required in all RAC instances?

When configuring RAC in DBO the following should be considered:

1. The RAC Service
2. The RAC related nodes
3. The Oracle user for the RAC

RAC Service is the alias used for addressing the group of RAC nodes.
The RAC Service is defined as an agent in DBO, and holds the RAC instances themselves.
Oracle User is the same user across all the RAC nodes as the database is the same database accessed from all the nodes.

In RAC, since the data is located on the shared storage, it doesn't matter which Oracle user is used as each Oracle user will get access to the same data. Therefore while configuring RAC agent, only one user is required in Add RAC step, this user will be used for connecting to all the defined nodes (see attached screenshot Add_RAC_1.png).

In Add RAC specify the following credentials:

• RAC Service (i.e., from tnsnames.ora)
• Oracle User, any Oracle user from the RAC participating nodes
• Oracle Password, the Oracle User password

in the Add RAC Nodes specify the following:

• The Host of the instance node
• the Instance name
  Other then this, Edit Credentials can be expanded for OS credentials configuration

In Agent Status the same as above applies:

• DB_Oracle_RAC agent type stands for the RAC alias
• DB_Oracle_RAC_Instance agent type stands for the RAC instance (see attached screenshot agent_status.png)
