How to modify e-mails subject and messages adding rule severity variables.

Step 1. Navigate to Severity Level Variables under RuleName that you are working with:
Admin Console | Administration | Rules & Notifications | Manage Rules | click on RuleName | Condition & Actions | expand Severity Level (Fire, Fatal, Critical, Warning) | Severity Level Variables
Step 2. Navigate to "Severity Level Variables" tab under "Condition & 'Actions" (make sure the correct severity is selected)
Define Severity Level Variable. This is one example to grab the AgentName. Select:
A. Type = Expression
B. Name: Text2
C. For Time Driven and Data Driven Triggering, the Expression/Message will be typed in as:
scope.get("monitoringAgent/agentInstance")
Click Add.
Step 3. Assign the newly created variable to the Email Actions mail.subject or mail.message field by carrying out the following:
a. Click on the value for mail.subject (you may have to scroll over and down to see it in the list);
b. In the Action Parameter Editor, under Rule/System Variables, choose the Text2 variable we defined earlier, click Change;
c. If you would like to have the AgentName also appear in the email message, click the value for mail.message;
d. Once you are finished modifying mail.subject and/or mail.message, click Save All at the bottom of the page.
Once the Rules conditions are met and it fires and kicks off the associated Email Action, you should see the affected monitored hosts name appear in the email subject and/or the message.
