Installing Smartdisk on a virtual machine -

Some NetVault Smartdisk users install the software on a VM, this is not supported.
This configuration can cause a number of issues.

原因
- The I/O during the deduplication is not sufficient to deduplicate at the required rate because the devices are not high speed local disks, which are required for efficient deduplication.
- With VM's we use a common datastore that is shared with other VM's. This means that we may have the stage and store located on the same volume.

対策
- You must deploy it on physical devices and you must use different paths for Staging and Store to ensure that load balancing is maintained. You cannot deploy NetVault SmartDisk on virtual machines.
- If you intend to use deduplication, NetVault SmartDisk must reside on a dedicated NetVault SmartDisk machine; you cannot install it on the backup server or client.
