When opening the Desktop Authority (DA) console an error message displays:
“An error has occurred when attempting to communicate with the DA Manager Service. Please ensure that the service is started and running”.
Possible causes for this error include:
1. Port 8085 is being used by a different application
2. The Desktop Authority Manager Service is not started.
Verify that the Desktop Authority Manager Service is started with a Domain Administrator account. If so, then something may be blocking port 8085 on the DA server. Verify that the Windows Firewall is disabled or that the port is open. Disable any Proxy settings. Disable any services that may use this port.
To test the port availability, stop the DA Manager Service, then from a command prompt run the command:
Netstat –an | find “8085”
The command will return an empty result if the port is available & a LISTENING result if the port is in use.
Verify that the port is not being blocked; start the DA Manager Service and the DA console should open.
