GPOADmin console is crashing when trying to create new GPO.
The issue occurs after right-clicking on a version control root folder, selecting “New” and then selecting “Group Policy Object”. The create new GPO wizard screen does not launch.
If the issue occurs immediately after selecting New > Group Policy Object, it may be related to one of the following:
Recommendation #1:
The issue could be caused by how GPOADmin queries a domain controller to create the working copy. If a Preferred Domain Controller is configured, GPOADmin will use it; otherwise, it defaults to the PDC Emulator of the target domain.
To verify the configured preferred DC:
Right-click the domain at the top of the left panel > Options > Preferred Domain Controller.
Once identified, ensure that the selected DC is online and responsive.
Recommendation #2:
The problem may occur during the working copy creation process, even if it's not directly visible in the GPOADmin console.
To test this, launch GPMC from the GPOADmin server and try creating a new GPO manually. If you experience delays or errors, that may point to the root cause, as GPOADmin relies on GPMC. Any issues affecting GPMC will likely impact GPOADmin as well.
