How to setup and configure SNMP alerts in ChangeAuditor

The ChangeAuditor Coordinator server can be configured to send SNMP alerts to third-party SNMP software installed on a separate server.

1. Install SNMP Service on the ChangeAuditor Coordinator Windows server (* Instructions are for Windows Server 2008 R2) - Open Windows Server Manager - Click 'Add Features' - Select SNMP Service - Click Next - Click Install - The SNMP Service will not be available for configuration until the Windows server is rebooted
2. Load the ChangeAuditor MIB file into the third-party SNMP receiver software - Locate the CAAD.mib file in the installation directory of the ChangeAuditor Coordinator (typically: 'C:\Program Files\Quest\ChangeAuditor\Service') - Copy the file to the computer that hosts the third-party SNMP receiver software - Load the ChangeAuditor MIB file into the third-party SNMP receiver software as per the documentation of that software
3. Configure the SNMP Service on the ChangeAuditor Coordinator server: - Open Windows Services on the ChangeAuditor Coordinator computer - Right-click the SNMP Service and select Properties - Click the 'Traps' tab - Type any Community name for the trap (for example 'ChangeAuditor') in the 'Community name' field - Click the 'Add to list' button - In the Trap destinations section, Click the 'Add...' button - Enter the IP address of the Windows Server that hosts the third-party SNMP receiver software - Click Add - Click OK
4. Configure a Search to send SNMP Alerts - Open the ChangeAuditor Client - Click View | Searches - Click the Searches tab - Right-click the Search, select Alert | Enable Transport | SNMP - Click Yes on the 'Are you sure you want to enable the selected alerts' dialog

To verify if SNMP alerts are sent from the ChangeAuditor Coordinator from the "Test SNMP" button in the Coordinator configuration screen from the CA client and also by using a Trap receiver tool of your choice as detailed in the KB article below:
