Error "Could not get syntax for specified information OID:2.5.5.7" -
Description
Attempting to work with a Synchronization Project to an Active Roles target system may result in the following error:
Error connecting system (ActiveRolesServer)! Could not get syntax for specified information OID:2.5.5.7 OMSyntax: 127 OMObjectClass: . Specify OMObjectClass

Cause
This is due to Defect 318462, where Active Roles is installed in a domain that does NOT have Microsoft Exchange installed.
There are four schema entries included with Active Roles out-of-the-box that have attributeSyntax=2.5.5.7 and omSyntax=127 but have no value for omObjectClass.
This is not valid as per Microsoft's specs . -
Resolution
WORKAROUND
Correct the states of these schema entries by running the following tSQL against the Active Roles configuration database:Quick Disclaimer: Please ensure that you backup your Active Roles database before performing any tasks, and perform testing in a lower non-production environment before making these changes in a production instance.update [dbo].[tblSchema] SET omObjectClass = CONVERT(VARBINARY(10), '0x56060102050B1D', 1) where distinguishedName='CN=ms-Exch-Auth-Orig,CN=Schema,CN=Application Configuration,CN=Configuration';
The above update statement will need to be run for each of the four malformed schema entries. Their distinguishedName values are:- CN=ms-Exch-Auth-Orig,CN=Schema,CN=Application Configuration,CN=Configuration
- CN=ms-Exch-DL-Mem-Reject-Perms,CN=Schema,CN=Application Configuration,CN=Configuration
- CN=ms-Exch-DL-Mem-Submit-Perms,CN=Schema,CN=Application Configuration,CN=Configuration
- CN=ms-Exch-Unauth-Orig,CN=Schema,CN=Application Configuration,CN=Configuration
These schema entries all have the same omObjectClass value, so that does not need to be changed.
STATUS
Waiting for a fix in a future release of Active Roles. -
