Adding analyzers

The general process for adding analyzers is similar regardless of which type of analyzer you are defining.

TIP: If you want to add an analyzer that is very similar to an existing analyzer, you may prefer to start with a copy of that analyzer. See Copying analyzers.
To create an analyzer:

In the Traffic Analysis dashboard, expand one of the following views:
•
Hit Analyzers
•
Sequence Analyzers
•
Session Analyzers

In the expanded view, click Add.
The Add [Hit|Sequence|Session] Analyzer dialog box appears.

In the dialog box, specify the following properties:
•
Name: Specify a name.
•
Description: Summarize the reason you created the analyzer, including the actions it performs.
•
Enabled: Select to enable this analyzer as soon as you finish defining it. Disabled analyzers are not applied to monitored web traffic.
•
Hit Analyzer Only—Analysis Phase: Select Filtering, Main, or Final. The Filtering phase is used to discard uninteresting hits without any further traffic analysis processing. Most of your hit analyzers should run in the Main phase. If the value of a custom metric or custom field can be updated by multiple analyzers and you want to use its final value in a hit analyzer’s match conditions or a script, define the analyzer as a Final phase.

Sequence Analyzer Only—Enable any Disabled Hit Analyzer used by this Sequence Analyzer: Select to ensure all the required hit analyzers are actively running on the monitored web traffic.

Click Next.
The dialog box closes. The Add [Hit|Sequence|Session] Analyzer dashboard appears, displaying the new name and description.

Define the options for the type of analyzer you are defining by referring to one of the following topics:

Configuring hit analyzers
•
Configuring sequence analyzers
•
Configuring session analyzers

When you are finished defining options, click Save.
You return to the Traffic Analysis dashboard. The new analyzer appears in the table.

Copying analyzers

The general process for copying analyzers is similar regardless of which type of analyzer you are defining.
To copy an analyzer:

In the Traffic Analysis dashboard, expand one of the following views:

Hit Analyzers
•
Sequence Analyzers
•
Session Analyzers

In the row containing the analyzer you want to copy, click Copy .
The Copy [Hit|Sequence|Session] Analyzer dialog box appears.

In the dialog box, edit the following properties as required:
•
Name: Specify a name.
•
Description: Summarize the reason you created the analyzer, including the actions it performs.
•
Enabled: Select to enable this analyzer as soon as you finish defining it. Disabled analyzers are not applied to monitored web traffic.
•
Hit Analyzer Only—Analysis Phase: Select Filtering, Main, or Final. The Filtering phase is used to discard uninteresting hits without any further traffic analysis processing. Click Next.
The dialog box closes. The Copy [Hit|Sequence|Session] Analyzer dashboard appears, displaying the new properties and containing the same match conditions and actions as the original analyzer.

Edit any match conditions and actions that need to change from the original analyzer by referring to one of the following topics:

Configuring sequence analyzers

Configuring session analyzers

When you are finished defining options, click Save.
You return to the Traffic Analysis dashboard. The new analyzer appears in the table.

Editing analyzers

The general process for editing analyzers is the same regardless of which type of analyzer you are defining.
To edit an analyzer:

In the Traffic Analysis dashboard, expand one of the following views:

Hit Analyzers
•
Sequence Analyzers
•
Session Analyzers

In the row containing the analyzer you want to edit, click Edit .
The Edit [Hit|Sequence|Session] Analyzer dashboard appears, containing the options of the selected analyzer.

To edit properties, click Properties. To edit conditions or actions, expand the view containing the options you want to edit. For details, see one of the following topics.

Configuring sequence analyzers

Configuring session analyzers

Click Save.
The analyzer is updated, and you return to the Traffic Analysis dashboard.

Adding and editing conditions

To add or edit a condition:

In the Conditions view, do one of the following:
•
To add a new condition, click Add.
•
To edit a condition, click its Edit icon.

In the dialog box, complete the options.
•

•
For help with event conditions, see Defining event conditions.

To save the analyzer, click Save.
