Adding or editing monitored ports

To add or edit a monitored port:

On the navigation panel, under Dashboards, click APM > Configure > Traffic Capture > Monitored Ports.

Do one of the following:

To monitor a new port, click Add.

•

To edit an existing port definition, click its Edit

icon.

In the dialog box, complete the options. For help with options, see Defining monitored ports.

Selecting IP addresses from a discovery list

You can use the Discovery tool to detect traffic on IP addresses currently in use in the monitored environment. You can then select the IP addresses that you want to monitor.

To discover and add IP addresses:

On the navigation panel, under Dashboards, click APM > Configure > Traffic Capture > Monitored IP Addresses.

Click Discover.

The IP Discovery dialog box appears, and begins displaying IP addresses in use in the monitored environment.

Optional—use the Discovery tool’s Search box to focus results.

When you see the IP addresses that you want to add, click Stop.

You can order the results by clicking any column heading.

Select the check boxes beside one or more IP addresses.

The selected IP addresses appear in the table.

To add or edit a monitored IP address:

On the navigation panel, under Dashboards, click APM > Configure > Traffic Capture > Monitored IP Addresses.

Optional—if you entered a single IP address, rather than a range, you can look up the host name associated with the IP address in your network’s DNS server.

Click DNS Lookup.

If you want to use the name, click Use DNS Name.

The dialog box closes. The Host Name field now contains the DNS Name.

You can use the DNS Lookup tool to look up the host names associated with the monitored IP address. For more information, see Displaying host names instead of IP addresses.

To look up and use the host names for all monitored IP addresses:

On the navigation panel, under Dashboards, click APM > Configure > Traffic Capture > Monitored IP Addresses.

Click DNS Lookup.

To display host names instead of IP addresses, click Use DNS Names.

The dialog box closes. The host names are displayed in the Host Name column.
