Integrating with CA SiteMinder

CA SiteMinder is a centralized web access management system that enables:
•
User authentication and single sign-on
•
Policy-based authorization
•
Identity federation
•
Auditing of access to web applications and portals
The SiteMinder Policy Server is a SiteMinder component that provides authorization and authentication services to applications. To monitor applications that use SiteMinder, you need to configure Foglight APM to perform the same type of user authentication with SiteMinder that your applications currently perform with SiteMinder.
In the SiteMinder Servers dashboard, you can add, edit, and remove server definitions using the standard controls. You can also test the connection to a SiteMinder server.
In the SiteMinder Servers dashboard, you can perform the following tasks:

Adding SiteMinder Server definitions in Foglight
•
Registering Foglight as a SiteMinder agent
•
Adding SiteMinder to a sessionizing policy

Adding SiteMinder Server definitions in Foglight

Create a definition for each SiteMinder Policy Server that controls access to the applications you want to monitor.

NOTE: To ensure that you capture accurate session details, remember to add the SiteMinder cookie to your sessionizing policy. For more information, see Adding SiteMinder to a sessionizing policy.
To add a SiteMinder server definition:

On the navigation panel, under Dashboards, click APM > Configure Advanced Options > SiteMinder Servers.

Click Add.

In the Add SiteMinder Server dialog box, configure the following options.

Agent Name
Specify a name, such as foglight_agent. You refer to this name when configuring the SiteMinder Policy Server. See Registering Foglight as a SiteMinder agent.
Description
Optional—specify additional information, such as where the SiteMinder Policy Server is located or the list the applications that use this SiteMinder server.
IP Address
Specify the IP address of the host on which the SiteMinder Policy Server is installed.
Accounting Port
If the default accounting port was changed during the SiteMinder installation, check the port setting in the Policy Server Management Console and enter that port number in this box. Default is 44441.
Authentication Port
If the default authentication port was changed during the SiteMinder installation, check the port setting in the Policy Server Management Console and enter that port number in this box. Default is 44442.
Authorization Port
If the default authorization port was changed during the SiteMinder installation, check the port setting in the Policy Server Management Console and enter that port number in this box. Default is 44443.
Shared Secret
Specify the key used for initial connection to the SiteMinder Policy Server. The SiteMinder Policy Server can be configured to assign a new dynamic shared secret to Foglight.
Associated Sniffers
Select the Sniffers that require access to this SiteMinder server. Recall that in a multiple-appliance installation, Sniffers may be installed in different locations (geographically or on the network) and therefore require access to different SiteMinder Policy Servers and applications. For more information, see Managing Sniffers.

Click Save.

In the SiteMinder Servers dashboard, select the check box for the newly created server definition and click Test.
If the test fails, click Edit and correct the SiteMinder Server definition.

Registering Foglight as a SiteMinder agent

After the SiteMinder server is defined in Foglight, a SiteMinder Administrator can create an agent definition for Foglight. In the SiteMinder Agent Dialog page, specify the following values.

Specify the Agent Name you specified when defining the SiteMinder Server definition. See Adding SiteMinder Server definitions in Foglight.
Support 4.x agents
Select this check box.
IP Address or Host Name
Specify the IP address of the Foglight Management Server.
Secret
Specify the Shared Secret you specified when defining the SiteMinder Server definition. See Adding SiteMinder Server definitions in Foglight.

Adding SiteMinder to a sessionizing policy

Applications that use SiteMinder identify user sessions through the default SMSESSION or GMWSESSION cookies or through some other cookie defined within SiteMinder. To capture accurate session details, you need to add the cookie used by your SiteMinder servers to the default sessionizing policy.

To add the cookie, you need to define a session identifier with the name of the cookie and set the Type to SiteMinder. For more information, see Sessionizing policies—Identifying user sessions.

To capture user names associated with SiteMinder sessions, you need to define a username rule with the same cookie you added as a session identifier. For more information, see Sessionizing policies—Associating user names with user sessions
