The Wizard and Version Control

The Undocumented Object Wizard facilitates version control by automatically adding all the undocumented objects that it finds in the application environment to a CSR. You can then lock these objects on the CSR and create an archive set that serves as the baseline archive of the objects. If you run the wizard against the base environment in a migration path, Stat creates a base archive set automatically after you lock the objects on the CSR; for all other environments, an interim archive set must be created manually.

In the Module field, select the appropriate change management module.

In the Database field, select the environment you want.

In the Object Type(s) field, scroll through the list of object types and select the type(s) you want. To select more than one object type, hold down the <Shift> or <Ctrl> key while you make your selections.

PeopleSoft Date/Time Stamping — When you select this (default) option, the wizard displays a list of release dates contained in the PS Release table. The wizard then compares the release date you select to the date and time that each object was last updated. If an object date is more recent, the wizard then checks if that object is documented in Stat.
Date/Time — This option allows you to specify a date that is different than a release date. After you specify a date, the wizard then compares it to the date and time that each object was last updated. If an object date is more recent, the wizard then checks if that object is documented in Stat
PeopleSoft Oprid — This option allows you to specify a PeopleSoft OPRID that is either equal or not equal to the OPRID of the objects. If you selected Equals (=), the wizard identifies the objects with a matching OPRID and then checks if each object is documented in Stat. If you selected Not Equals (<>), the wizard identifies the objects that do not have a matching OPRID and checks if they are documented.

If the wizard found undocumented objects and you want to add these objects to a CSR, click Next>. If the wizard did not find any undocumented objects, or you do not want to add any objects to a CSR, click Finish.
Objects under the Versions Changed heading, if any, need to be updated to the PeopleSoft environment version. To do this, select the object and click Update button. This updates the version of the object in Stat so that it matches the version in the PeopleSoft environment.
To specify existing CSRs, click Lookup CSRs.... This opens the Search CSR Engine, which you can use to locate the CSRs you want. In the Search CSR Engine window, select the CSRs in the results list and click Add.
If you want to create a new CSR, click New CSR.... After you create the CSR and save it, it is automatically added by the wizard.

Migration History Wizard

You use the Migration History Wizard to locate any migration that has been performed in Stat. This allows you to view all changes that have occurred in a particular environment or in all environments. The wizard searches for all migrations that meet your selected criteria. For example, you can search by a specific date range, service domain, release label, or migration path. Access to this wizard is controlled by user class rights.

If you selected the State Based Report option, the Migration History Wizard includes migrations in the results window that are documented in environments due to environment refresh events.
The Migration History Report window resembles the Migration Console and functions much the same way (see Migration Console ). The Migration History Report window, however, displays more information about the migration, including:

Archive Set

The number of the CSR the archive set is associated with followed by the archive set number.

Archive Type

The type of archive set. Options include Base, Interim, and Final.

Archive Description

The description that identifies the archive set.

Object Count

The number of objects contained in the archive set.

CSR Description

The entry in the Title field of the associated CSR

CSR Type

The type ID of the CSR.

Migration Path

The migration path used to migrate the archive set.

To Working

Indicates if file objects in the archive set (if any) were migrated to the developers’ working directories.

To Distributed

Indicates if the target environment is a distribution environment.

Object Archive Search Wizard

You can use the Object Archive Search Wizard to locate all CSRs which contain an archive copy of a specific object. While the Object History Wizard finds all CSRs with which an object is associated, this wizard locates only those CSRs which contain an archive set with that object. This wizard is useful in finding object versions for recovery purposes.

From the Search Results window, you can do the following:

Compare two different versions of an object archived on different archive sets by selecting the two versions you want and clicking the Compare button. This opens Stat’s object comparison tools (either the Object Compare Wizard or the File Comparison Tool, depending on the class of the selected object). For detailed instructions on using the object comparison tools, see Object Comparison Tools .

Rapid Recovery Window

In addition to migrating archive sets in a CSR, Stat also assists with object recovery. This is done in the Rapid Recovery window. In this window you can migrate an archive set to any environment, not just those environments on the CSR’s original migration path. You can also recover an archive set from a closed CSR where there are no locks on the objects.

Since you can migrate to environments not on the CSR's migration path, any security right having to do with a migration path does not apply to the Rapid Recovery window, such as the security right that allows a user to migrate to the Base environment.

The Rapid Recovery window should only be used in emergency situations since it overrides several CSR migration rules, including migration approvals, workflow status, and object locks. Because overriding object locks creates the risk of overwriting another user’s work, access to the Rapid Recovery window is controlled by its own security right and should be restricted.

When you use the Rapid Recovery window to migrate an archive set to an environment that is not on the original migration path, the migration is documented in the Migration Details window but not the CSR where the archive set originated. On the other hand, if you do recover to an environment on the original migration path, the migration is documented in the CSR as it would be normally.
