How to setup ScanSnap with RemoteScan (4245800)

RemoteScan began supporting Fujitsu ScanSnap scanners starting May 24, 2018, with the release of the following versions of RemoteScan:

• RemoteScan Enterprise v10.700
• RemoteScan Universal v10.700
• RemoteScan Enterprise User Edition v11.500
• RemoteScan Universal User Edition v11.500
• RemoteScan for Terminal Services / Citrix v9.900
• RemoteScan for LAN v9.900

Fujitsu ScanSnap scanners are not currently compatible with the common Windows image capture API's (Twain, WIA, ISIS), and these devices currently only communicate with other applications via a locally-installed Windows agent (ScanSnap Manager or ScanSnap Home).

RemoteScan is currently compatible with the following models of Fujitsu ScanSnap scanners:

• ScanSnap iX100
• ScanSnap iX500
• ScanSnap iX1500
  
• ScanSnap S1100i
• ScanSnap S1300i

To setup RemoteScan with ScanSnap Manager:

1. Download and install ScanSnap Manager v5, or higher, from Fujitsu's website.
   
2. Install a compatible version of RemoteScan server, and make sure the checkbox to "Update to allow ScanSnap scanning" is checked within the RemoteScan installation wizard.
   
3. After the RemoteScan installation completes, open the ScanSnap Manager interface by right-clicking the ScanSnap Manager tray icon and then click "Scan Button Settings..."
   
4. In the ScanSnap Manager window, uncheck the checkbox for "Use Quick Menu."
   
5. In the dropdown list for Application, choose RemoteScan and click Apply. You can now close the ScanSnap Manager window.
   
   
6. Right-click the RemoteScan tray icon and hover over Choose a ScanSnap Scanner, then click on the ScanSnap scanner in the list to select it. The ScanSnap scanner is now ready to be used by RemoteScan.
   
   

To setup RemoteScan with ScanSnap Home:

1. Download and install ScanSnap Home v1.0.20, or higher, from Fujitsu's website.
2. Install a compatible version of RemoteScan server, and make sure the checkbox to "Update to allow ScanSnap scanning" is checked within the RemoteScan installation wizard.
   
3. After the RemoteScan installation completes, open the ScanSnap Home interface by left-clicking the ScanSnap Home tray icon and then select Settings | Scan Settings.
   
4. In the ScanSnap Home Scan Settings window, next to "Select a scanner", select the desired ScanSnap scanner (if more than one ScanSnap is connected) and then click on the Edit Profiles icon.
   
5. In the ScanSnap Home scanner profile window, select the Auto Scan tab, scroll to the bottom of the window, then next to Application Send To select RemoteScan from the dropdown list and then click the Save button. You can now close the ScanSnap Home window.
   
6. Right-click the RemoteScan tray icon and hover over Choose a ScanSnap Scanner, then click on the ScanSnap scanner in the list to select it. The ScanSnap scanner is now ready to be used by RemoteScan.
   

Note:
Newer versions of ScanSnap Home are configured to automatically update on a periodic basis. If ScanSnap Home is updated/reinstalled on a user's workstation, it may be also necessary to reinstall RemoteScan server and then reconfigure ScanSnap Home on the same PC in order to use the ScanSnap device with RemoteScan.
