RemoteScan icon will show a green bar when there is at least one virtual channel connection detected. If the green bar is missing, then there are no virtual channel connections detected.
If Citrix Receiver client or Citrix Workspace client software on the local PC is updated or reinstalled, then RemoteScan will lose the ability to connect through the Citrix ICA virtual channel for that device, resulting in no green bar. This is because there are RemoteScan helper files and Windows registry entries which are deleted from the Citrix installation folder and registry keys when you upgrade or reinstall the Citrix client. This will result in no green bar beneath the RemoteScan icon.
The green bar is displayed under the RemoteScan icon to show that you are connected to your Terminal or Citrix server. Your connection is working and RemoteScan can communicate with the server.
In the event there is no green bar when using a Citrix client, the RemoteScan installer may need to be run again on that PC in order to replace the RemoteScan helper files and registry entries which were removed during a recent Citrix client upgrade or reinstall. When running the RemoteScan installer, make sure to check the checkbox for "Update your Citrix Client to allow scanning" in order to repopulate the RemoteScan helper files and registry values required by Citrix to use the Citrix ICA virtual channel.
