When restoring to Clean OS, the DCs become unreachable at "Ensure domain controller isolation is disabled" or "Restarting to normal mode" -
Description
We are performing a test restore using "Restore to Clean OS", some DCs are failing at the step "Ensure that domain controller isolation is disabled" or "Restarting to normal mode".
The RMAD console system is unable to ping the restored DC, but it is possible to ping the RMAD server from a console session. -
Cause
This has been observed as a firewall issue.
During the Clean OS, the firewall may be turned on prior, causing issues once the GPOs are restored, which occurs at the same step as the isolation disablement. -
Résolution
WORKAROUND
Disable the firewall for all profiles on the target Clean OS machines before restore.
If the issue is currently happening, you should be able to disable them via a console session at that time, and retry the last action in RMAD.STATUS
Enhancement request number ADO-320773 has been submitted to Development for consideration in a future release of Recovery Manager for Active Directory Disaster Recovery Edition.
This enhancement will ensure that the firewall is disabled before the restore begins as preparation. -
